review

I would like to describe the film which absolutely drew my attention because once I saw Desert Flower, will I never forget it !

Desert Flower is the gripping story of a Somalian model who stands against female circumcision in her country. It's worth mentioning that the film is based on the true strory od Waris Dirie who decided to screen her book in 2009.

As a 12-year-old girl, Waris Dirie escapes from her little village in Somalia to avoid marrying 60-year-old man. Despite being hidden from the civilization, the teenager suffers from being circumcised and brakes the rules of the cruel traditions. After some time, Waris arrives in London. She is discovered by a famous photographer and fortunately, she starts a big career of a top model. During her stay in England, she also gives a moving interview which shows the truth about the Somalian wemen. In 2010, Waris is appointed Peace Ambassador for the Year of Peace and Security by the African Union.

Desert Flower is absolutely worth recommending because it presents the woman who did a lot for the Third World. She has still stayed unique.
